The B58 platform represents BMW’s modern performance formula done right. Closed deck strength, integrated exhaust manifold design, efficient cooling strategy, and a factory turbocharged inline six that responds exceptionally well when the supporting systems are upgraded properly. In stock form, the M240i is already quick. Compact, balanced, and deceptively capable. But the real strength of the B58 is how confidently it scales when every system is built to support the power being asked of it.
Pony ETR was built with that mindset from the beginning.
The name is a quiet jab. A reminder that this is not a Mustang, even if it might surprise a few of them. Compact, rear wheel drive, turbocharged, and engineered to make serious power without unnecessary drama.
At the center of the build is an upgraded turbo from Dynamic Autowerx, extending airflow capacity and pushing the usable power band well beyond factory limits. The ARM Motorsports downpipe improves exhaust flow directly at the turbine, allowing the turbo to operate more efficiently under higher boost levels. Supporting airflow upgrades from Wagner Tuning, including the upgraded charge pipe and intake manifold, improve flow consistency and durability under elevated pressure.
Fueling is properly addressed, not stretched. A Dorch Engineering Stage 3 high pressure fuel pump works alongside a Precision Raceworks Stage 4 low pressure fuel system and Nostrum high performance injectors to provide the volume and control required for significant output. This combination ensures the engine has the headroom necessary to operate safely and consistently at higher power levels.

The CTS Turbo intake system, paired with its integrated turbo heat shield, manages underhood temperatures while maintaining clean airflow to the turbocharger. Combined with the AWE exhaust system, the car breathes efficiently from intake to tailpipe and carries a tone that reflects its capability without becoming excessive.
Like Nightshift, everything is brought together through custom calibration by David Shoup. Boost control, fueling strategy, ignition timing, and drivability are aligned into one cohesive system. The result is power that feels smooth and intentional under normal driving, but immediate and forceful when requested.
The transmission is calibrated to match. XHP Stage 3 custom software sharpens shift speed, increases clutch holding strategy, and recalibrates the ZF eight speed to handle the added output confidently. Gear changes are quicker and more decisive, keeping the car composed under hard acceleration.
On the suspension side, Dinan lowering springs paired with the Comfort Kit and Bilstein B6 shocks and struts improve stance and body control without sacrificing daily usability. The car sits correctly, rides with purpose, and maintains stability at speed.
Pony ETR is a modern turbo BMW built correctly. Balanced, supported, and engineered with intent. It may carry a name that nods at Mustangs, but its execution reflects a different standard.
